Stage 03 — Build

The stage where the skill is actually taught.

Build carries the most hours and the highest fee, and that is correct rather than unfortunate. Under-resourcing this stage is the single most common reason a family is still paying for support four years later.

What this actually is.

Sessions run against the goals in your Independence Plan — not against a generic curriculum and not against whatever seems useful that week. Every session produces data on the specific targets, and that data is in your file within the week rather than summarised at the end of term.

Every practitioner is supervised by the clinician who wrote the goals. If a target is not moving, that is visible to us, to you, and to the reviewer at the same time.

What's included
  • Sessions against the written goals, in the settings that matter
  • Data at every session, in your file the same week
  • Clinical supervision of every practitioner
  • Parent coaching alongside, not as an extra
  • Termly written review, shared with your school
  • A rewrite of the plan if two consecutive reviews go flat
What's not
  • Open-ended sessions with no exit criterion
  • Billing per report, per phone call or per email
  • Any promise to cure, fix or resolve a condition
  • An hours increase as the default answer to slow progress
Cost and ending

What it costs, and when it stops.

One monthly programme fee for the stage, not a per-practitioner or per-session invoice. It covers supervision, reporting and your Family Lead's time. Nobody involved earns more by recommending more of it.

This stage ends when

The target skills are reliable in the setting where they were taught.

Agreed in writing before the stage starts, not negotiated on the way out.

Questions

Straight answers.

What happens if progress stalls?

Two consecutive flat reviews trigger a written re-plan. More hours is not the default response and it is never the automatic one — sometimes the honest answer is that the goal was wrong, or that a different provider is better placed.

Can we see the session data?

Yes, all of it, in your Independence File, within the week. It is your record and you can export the whole thing free at any time.

Do you work with therapists we already have?

Yes. If someone in your child's life is working, the plan keeps them and builds around them. Replacing a good relationship for the sake of a tidier contract is a bad trade for your child.

Where this starts

Tell us what you've noticed.

Twenty minutes on the phone with someone who does this every day. No assessment, no cost, and no obligation to become a client at the end of it.

If we're not the right people, we'll tell you who is. That includes naming providers we don't own, and it costs you nothing either way.
